Delete your account

You can delete your My Quran Companion account and everything in it at any time, from the app or from any browser. You do not need the app installed.

Delete it yourself

It takes a minute, and the account is deleted straight away.

  1. Go to chat.myqurancompanion.com in any browser, or open the app.
  2. Sign in with the Google account or email address you use in the app.
  3. Open Settings: on a phone, tap the menu at the top, then your name or email address at the bottom. On a computer, it is at the bottom of the side panel. If the app first asks for your birth date or to accept the disclaimer, tap the Settings button at the top of that screen instead.
  4. Choose Delete account at the bottom of Settings, then Delete account again to confirm.

Or ask us to delete it

If you can't sign in or can't reach Settings, email support@myqurancompanion.com from the email address of your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We delete the account and reply to confirm within 30 days, usually much sooner.

What is deleted

  • Your profile: name, email address, profile picture link, Google account ID, password hash, month and year of birth, school of thought and app language.
  • Every chat: your messages, the replies, the sources they cited and the search phrases made from your messages.
  • Reports you made about replies, with any notes.
  • Your consents, your daily message counts and any sign-in code waiting to be used.

What is kept

  • Usage records and the activity log, which contain nothing you wrote: for each AI request, the model used, how much text it processed, its cost, how long it took and whether it worked; and records of sign-ins, setting and consent changes, reports, the cost of each message, and the deletion itself. They are kept without any link to you, to track costs and keep the service running, and deleted after about 2 years.
  • If you turned on "Share my chats to improve replies", test questions we already made from those chats are kept. They are written without anything that identifies you.
  • Our database provider keeps a restore history of about 6 hours. After that, deleted data is gone from it too.

Delete one chat instead

To keep your account and delete a single chat, find it in the menu (on a computer, the side panel), choose Delete on that chat, and confirm. Its messages, cited sources and search phrases are removed.
